Zumba Fitness

When: 5.30pm - 6.30pm
Location: Fogarty Park

Zumba classes feature exotic rhythms set to high energy Latin and international beats. Before you know it you are getting fit and energy levels are soaring. It is easy to do, effective and totally exhilarating.

Wednesday 8 October

Weaving

When: Wednesday 10.00am - 3.00pm

Location: ALCA 25 Exhibition Area, Cairns Convention Centre

​Take part in this special, hands-on weaving activity with respected Aboriginal artist, Aunty Kija. Your participation will contribute to the creation of a single artwork piece, reflecting the collaborative relationship between the Australian Land Conservation Alliance (ALCA), Landcare Australia, and NRM Regions Australia conferences. 

Aqua Zumba

When: 5.30pm - 6.30pm
Location: Esplanade, Lagoon

Splash your way into shape with an invigorating low-impact aquatic exercise. Known as the Zumba® "pool party", the Aqua Zumba program gives new meaning to the idea of a refreshing workout. Integrating the Zumba philosophy with traditional aquatic fitness disciplines, Aqua Zumba® blends it all together into workout that's cardio-conditioning, body-toning, and most of all, exhilarating beyond belief.

Conference Dinner

When: 6.30pm - 10.30pm
Location: Trinity Room, Cairns Convention Centre

Network with old friends and new connections and celebrate the work of the land conservation sector, its partners and supporters over dinner and drinks. Hear remarks from global keynote speaker and ALCA leadership.

Thursday 9 October

Yoga

When: 7.00am - 7.45am
Location: Wharf St lanwa (between Hemingway brewery and Wharf One cafe)


Start the day with a refreshing 45-minute yoga flow designed to awaken the body and focus the mind. This uplifting practice combines mindful movement, breathwork, and gentle stretches to release tension, boost energy, and leave you feeling centred, clear, and ready for a productive day ahead. Wear clothes you can easily move in and bring a towel.

Weaving

ALCA's Nature Podchat 

When: Thursday 9 October, 1:10pm – 2:10pm

Location: Plenary 1 Room, Cairns Convention Centre

​Bring your lunch for a friendly chat about the ABC’s podcast Saving the Franklin. Just like you would for a Book Club, listen to the podcast before you come to the conference, and then join others in a casual setting to share your reflections. ALCA’s chair Vic Marles will lead discussions that will explore the history of Australia’s conservation movement, lessons learned through the Franklin campaign, and what all that translates to for Australian conservationists today.

First Nations Marketplace

When: 10.30am – 4.30pm
Location: ALCA 25 Exhibition Area, Cairns Convention Centre

Celebrating Indigenous Business Month and in alignment with ALCA’s commitment to First Nations people, rooted in recognising their profound connection to Country, valuing their knowledge, and supporting self-determination in conservation efforts.  ALCA’s commitment extends to supporting Indigenous leadership, fostering respectful relationships, and ensuring that First Nations perspectives are central to achieving a healthy and resilient Australia. 

 

The First Nations’ Marketplace will offer a vibrant and culturally enriching experience for delegates, while providing economic and visibility opportunities for First Nations’ businesses and creatives. Delegates will meet and engage with First Nations entrepreneurs, experience connection, and be able to purchase from First Nation businesses unique to Far North Queensland.

 

Screening: Eat the invaders (coordinated by NAILSMA)

Join the North Australian Indigenous Land and Sea Management Alliance (NAILSMA) for an episode of ABC’s Eat The Invaders, followed by an Indigenous panel discussion on invasive species management.
